More Valentine's Day...oh my

Okay, so perhaps now I've gone a bit far.  Here is another cute card I made.  I remembered I had these stamps from Stampin' Up and I had to use them.  The base is Kraft cardstock from JoAnns.  The first layer is Stampin Up Certainly Celery.  I embossed it with a cuttlebug embossing folder.
I haven't really tried doing coloring well. I used regular color pencils and traced some with Stampin' Up markers.  I need to get better.  In the mean time, I think he looks kinda cute.

I decided against the traditional red and pink for this card.  :)

Dressed to Thrill

My sister, Damaris, lives in Tennessee.  Over Christmas our other sister, Debbie, gave her a new bath ensemble called Dressed to Thrill.  She wanted some wall art, so I took our my Forever Young Cartridge and cut some images.  They are cut at 8".  I loved making this project.  It looks pretty good up on the wall, huh?
This is the ensemble from Bed Bath & Beyond.  Super chic and girlie!

My Pink Stamper new stamps!!!!

Robyn at My Pink Stamper has a new set of stamps that she announced this weekend. I am thrilled that she is going to try out the Spanish market.  I hope all of my fellow Latinas decide to buy them.  I'm sure there will be more coming.  In fact...I have insider information that there is more stuff in the cooker.  :)

Check them out HERE

Bee Mine

My friend Liz from Which Craft let me borrow this super cute stamp that says Bee Mine.  She made a great project using Walk in my Garden cartridge and I really wanted to make something with that theme. Since I didn't have that cart, I used Create A Critter instead.  It was pretty fun.  I made two different cards and will probably play around with them some more.  Click on Liz's link to see her Bee Mine card. It's super adorable!  Thanks Liz!

I used Martha Stewart Opaque White to outline the wings.  After this picture, I ended up using a micro dot on his antennae.

I used a makeup sponge and some chalk to give this card a little color and shading. I thought it was too plain without it.

Congratulatory Card

My good friend, Francis, was recently chosen for a very prestigious position with the federal government. It is her dream job...next to the next dream job.
I am very proud of her.  I made her this card and took her some candles since they represent friendship and all.  I know she will shine!  Good job, Francis!!!

Valentine's Day

Hi everyone! I decided to make some Valentine's Day cards.  I have two sisters and a BFF who is like a sister so I figured we would all have matching cards.  Ha!  I hope they like it as much as I did.  The hearts couple tutorial is on the webpage of an amazing woman from Australia.  Visit her Valentine Heart Couple Tutorial and learn how to make this great couple.  I used a variety of materials.  Most of them were from DCWV.  The card stock is basic grey from Stampin up and the red dress is a red from the Regals pack in Stampin Up.  I cut the background from Storybook cartridge. It's called Marquee.  The sentiment on the gray "forever" is a Stampin Up set.  The others are all My Pink Stamper.   I had fun making these.

I used chalk to do the shading and stickles for the button.

The embossing is Tim Holz distressed powder.  (Uh oh...the tie is crooked)

Get Well for a Cake Lover

Okay, here's the scoop.  My birthday was on January 14th.  We had a celebration weekend because, after all, it was MY day and I am very special.  (I sound so stuck up, right?).  Well, my friend Francis invited us to her house and we had a little celebration.  The running joke was that her husband, Angel, was eating too much cake.  Well, A couple of days later, Angel was in the hospital having his gall bladder removed.  Oh my goodness!!!  Did I feel guilty!  His first words after surgery to me were, "now I can have THREE pieces of cake."  So...I ran with it.  I made him a get well card with a cake on it.  I hope he loves it as much as he loved that chocolate cake!

I used "Just Because" Cards cartridge.  I was going for a bigger cake, but since it cuts in proportion to the card, I set it at 4" and this is what I got.  I didn't want to waste paper, since I'm only using my stash. The paper is all Stampin Up.  The base is Sahara Sand, the rusty one is part of the regal pack and the blue is Not Quite Navy.  The top layer is Very Vanilla.  I used a Fiskars edge punch to make the border pretty and stickles to embellish.  I love Stickles!  Seriously.  I have 15 colors!  The stamp is from Stampin Up.  I used my embossing powder to make it nicer....and then a gold glitter pen for the little stitching.  It is so cute! I love this card.  The funniest part is that they are a University of Miami family and I am a University of Florida Gator fan...so he gets a Gator-inspired card.

I hope he likes it!

Valentines Day is around the corner

Seriously...where has time gone?  How do you guys do it?  I just realized I need to get cracking on Valentine's Day cards if I plan on getting any out.  So...I'll be coming up with some ideas.  I really want to use the Sweethearts cartridge and get some Spanish stamps in there too.   Keep an eye out.  I'll be posting them soon!

Simple Birthday Wish!

I have a dear friend.  She is a very special lady to my family.  Her name is Lynnette Allen.  She's the school nurse and was also the 3K teacher for my nephew Josh (20), my niece Lizzie (11) and my two kids (5 and 6)  So...she's been special to us forever.  Lynnette will celebrate a birthday in a couple of days.  I made her a special card to tell her how special she is.

This card was mostly used with Stampin Up! products.  I used Pear Pizzaz for the base at the normal A2 size.  The flower layer is cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  The square is 3 x 3 in chocolate chip (my favorite color) and the two inner squares are 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 and 2 1/4 x 2 1/4.  The sentiment color is Brocade Blue and from a Stampin Up sayings set.  I think it is simple, but pretty.  I sure hope Mrs. Allen loves it as much as I love her.

Friday Birthdays

Good Morning everyone! Yesterday was a special day for me.  It's my birthday.  My uncle, Ralph, and I share this day, which is very cool to me.  Last week I thought I'd take a moment to make him a little card. I used scraps and a little dog that I had already cut from Create a Critter a while back.  I had a top note that I bought on ebay in a bundle and thought it looked cute.  This card literally took me like five minutes to make, if that. I hope he likes it.  Hmm...should I make myself a card?  (My daughter (6) wants to make one...we'll see).

Have a great day!!
For some reason, I cannot flip flip this card.  Sorry.

A New Princess is on the Way!

My sister-in-law's little sister is having a baby in February.  She asked me to help her make invitations to her baby shower, which I gladly obliged.  She's Family!  I think they turned out pretty cute.  I hope she likes them.

I used Once Upon a Princess for the crown.  They were cut at 2 1/2".  The paper in the picture is just my sample.  I always make one first.  The crowns were cut with glittery paper from JoAnn Fabrics.  It was durable thick cardstock.  The first layer is cut at 5 3/8" x 3" and the bottom pink was cut at 2 1/2 x 5 3/8.  The scallop is a Martha Stewart edge punch.  The ribbon is missing a little bow I made on the others.  Oh my, I just realized I didn't include the bow on my sample.  :)  It's cute!  Finally, the sentiment is from Stampin Up.  It's from the "For the Bride" set.  I love the bride on that set.

Project 2011 Scrap our stash

Denise over at Lala's World has come up with a great project and new years resolution for 2011.  I've signed up to join her.  We all could use tips and ideas on how to reduce the amount of money we spend on paper, so Denise is challenging and encouraging us to use our scrap stash so that we don't buy anything we don't absolutely need.   On the first of each month, we will visit each other's blogs for encouragement and to see which projects we came up with.  I'm looking forward to participating.  Check out the details HERE!

My Pink Stamper - HONORABLE MENTION!!!

What a great night!  Thank you, Robyn for choosing me as an honorable mention.  I was shocked when I heard #208.  I am so honored!  Thank you so much!  This was such a great experience and I loved sitting with my headphones on listening and reading along.  :)

My Pink Stamper Design Team 2011 - Challenge & Submission

My very first Cricut tutorial was by Robyn at My Pink Stamper.  I was hooked! I had no idea how to use my new Cricut Expression which I bought on eBay for next to nothing (seriously) until she enlightened me.  Naturally, I became an instant fan.  Although I've only been a craftologist ;-) for a short period of time, I LOVE the art of papercrafting and it's becoming a little bit of an obsession for me.  It is an amazing outlet.
Robyn is having a design team submission call and challenge.  We are challenged to use our favorite cartridge and the colors pink, green and brown.  We could also add another color of our choice if we want. While I don't expect to make the design team, (there are so many amazing designers out there who inspire me), I did want to push myself to do something out of my comfort zone!  This was the perfect opportunity.  Check out her challenge and Design Team call for submissions Here

Here's what I came up with using my current favorite cartridge, Forever Young.

Recipe:

  • Standard A2 Card size - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" in Pear Pizzaz by Stampin Up
  • Layer 1 - Stampin Up Chocolate Chip cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Layer 2 (top half) - Patterned Paper is Colorbox Red Flower and cut at 2 1/2" x 5"
  • Layer 2 (bottom half) - The Paper Company purple passion pack cut at 2 1/2" x 5". I used an EK Success edge punch to cut the border.
  • Flower is from Page 73 of Forever Young cut at 3".  The flower was cut from Stampin Up Pear Pizzaz (Used Wild Wasabi marker to accent the leaves...which my hand was shaking for...sorry).
  • For the flower itself, I used Stampin Up Melon Mambo (I love this color), Pink Pirouette and Pretty In Pink.
  • To embellish (because sparkly stuff is a MUST) I used stickles in cinnamon and cotton candy. I also used the Martha Stewart glitter markers, which I LOOOOOVE!!!
  • The ribbon is a satin ribbon swatch I had left over in chocolate.
  • I used Stampin Up Dimensionals to adhere the flower to the card.
  • Sentiment:  None other than My Pink Stamper - Everyday Life Set - "If Friends Were Flowers, I'd Pick You"

My picture was taken with my iphone so the quality is not great.
It looks really pretty in person.  :)

This was fun! Push yourself!!  Maybe I'll do another one.
